3 Things I have NEVER regretted:
✅ Taking action

Did it always work out the way I expected? Nope 🤭
Did it always make me think/learn/evolve? Yep 🤓

FEELING STRONGER - it doesn’t need to mean suffe

FEELING STRONGER - it doesn’t need to mean suffering. Really.

Mysterious as it may feel, a gentle approach often yields more spectacular results.

Postures changing. Joints unlocking. Tensions releasing.

Why is the difference so noticeable?

Why does it work right away?

Because this kind of gentle movement is exactly what our bodies have been missing.

Even as dancers.

Especially as dancers.

We move. A lot.

But in limited ways.

Add some relaxation, do a bit more gentle resistance work, try some ‘strange’ movements.

Breathe.

Sleep on it.

And then, dance/move again...

Movement miracles do happen.

I’ve seen it time and time again with our BOOST Program participants.

I’ve also noticed it on myself.

So.. we’re doing it again.

Another round of BOOST, for a full year in 2022.

And there’s still a few days left to join.

Last year, both me and Mr E spent the Holidays a bit stressed and over-worked.

This year we’re taking it slow.

I love it.

Taking time to rest, read, walk, stretch, journal, clean, tidy up a bit.

Restoring & refreshing.

Feels so nice.

I do still have work to do before the end of this year ( *ahem* taxes.. ) and I’m prepping for the start of BOOST(!)

But it’s all going to get done in chillaxing mode this year. From my yoga mat 💕

(Note: as you may have seen, this/next week’s REELS have been recorded in my pink jammies 😄✋🏻💕✨)

As for NYE traditions:

One thing Mr E and I love to do (for 19 years now!) on New Year’s Eve is:

- we get out 2 glasses and some bubbly (optional, but fun)
- we get out 2 chairs
- we get on those chairs at 23:58
- we hold hands and keep an eye on the time (you’ll need a good watch 😄)
- count down
- JUMP exactly on the stroke of midnight (exciting!)
- land into the New Year
- cheers with that glass of bubbles
- wish your loved ones (near & far) good wishes for the coming year

I feel so incredibly lucky to get to do this BOOST thing online.

It’s a joy to be able share the live for movement with such a wonderful group of dancers.

Today was our final day of this year’s Online Strength - Flexibility - Dance BOOST Program, and I couldn’t be happier.

80(!) brave souls have joined for our 36-week online BOOST dance & movement adventure so far, and I’ve been blown away by the incredibly heartwarming and astoundingly positive feedbacks and comments I’ve received about how helpful this Program has been.

We do very simple things. Easy-peasy, gentle, and all at our very own pace.

And yet.. apparently.. it works 💕

There’s Power in gentle Movement.

So what happens now? We continue! Roll on #BOOST22 🥰

What is movement, anyway? 🤓

A lengthening and shortening of our muscle fibres.

‘Strength/power’ is how many of these fibres we can shorten at a given time, ‘flexibility/relaxation’ is how many of them we can lengthen.

‘Moveability’ is the ability to do both the lengthening and shortening.

‘Balance/Coordination’ is when we are able to employ just the right amount of each, in the places needed, at the time needed, for any given movement task.

‘Fluidity’ is timing it all optimally.

💜 All of this can be practiced, changed, with movement.

Smart strength/mobility work, combined with proper recovery/rest time can really make a world of difference in your quality of movement.

You will feel the difference immediately AND gradually over time, in dance, and in life.

It can all be learned. It is never too late.

Right? Right. 💜✨

FLEXIBILITY & DANCE (4/6) What is the connection?

It’s all about the ability to move freely 💜

If we can move all our joints freely (as our bodies are designed to do) ,and do this more often, in more ways, everything else tends to fall into place.

In daily life, over time, our movement habits (or non-movement!) and our movement (or injury) history can accumulate so much tension in our bodies (and minds) that coming back to a more balanced posture is more a matter of relaxation/letting go than of ‘efforting’ our way through.

Ask me how I know this.. I’ve had to learn it the other way around 😅💜✨

Another ‘side effect’ of relaxation is that it unlocks your power.

One of the ways I keep re-learning/re-discovering this, is through martial arts training.

Relaxation, speed, power, flexibility, effortlessness and strength.. it’s all interlinked.

Let go of unnecessary (or no longer necessary) tension, and your strength/power increases, too.

Interesting, huh? 🤓💜✨

What is BOOST about?

The easiest way to describe what we do would be.. Using the Power of Movement to improve your Dance 💜

There’s a bit of movement geekery involved (Powered by self-experiments, learnings from Ballet and Martial Arts studies, and.. BOOKS! I love them all - the one shown is ‘Anatomy Trains’ - See REEL nr 1 for the Link 🤓💜)

We work with Strength for activation (Mondays), Flexibility/Relaxation for coordination (Tuesdays) and then we apply these new sensations to DANCE (Fridays)

Simple, but (to me!) surprisingly effective.

I am still amazed at the changes that even the gentlest movement ‘tricks/tips’ can kick into motion (har)

Movement really is powerful. We are meant to learn by moving, experiencing, sensing.

In BOOST we try to do just that. Not choreographies, but a focus on (re)connecting with our bodies, our movements, from the inside out.

Practical Magic 💜

We apply all this to one ‘small’ dance theme per week (hands, wrists, posture), combined into a ‘big theme’ per month

To keep it doable/accessible, each session is only 30 minutes long, and you can join them Live (via Zoom or FB) or simply catch up with recordings at your own pace.

The recordings will stay yours forever 💜🥳✨ (I know there are pros and cons to this approach, but at the moment I see more pros 😄)

The BOOST Themes will change next year, so it makes sense to make this year’s recordings available ‘for keeps’

What else? Hmm.. I think that is the main essence.

My aim is to empower Boost participants (aka BOOSTies!) to re-discover for themselves what is posssible.. to let go of ‘what I can/cannot do/learn/discover’

It is to bring back a sense of hope, limitlessness, and joy of learning through movement, forever (or at least for as long as we are here) 💜🥳✨

BOOST UPDATE (1/6) - Sooo.. as you may have seen,

BOOST UPDATE (1/6) - Sooo.. as you may have seen, I am closing #BOOSTProgram Enrollments for this year(!) on Sunday 👀

Why? Two reasons - all of them good ☺️💜✨

Firstly, when I started the BOOST Program, just over a year ago, I couldn’t imagine how much joy, positivity, hope, growth and inspiration it would bring.

Not just for the brave participants (aka BOOSTies😄), also for me!

A year ago I wasn’t sure whether:
1. I would keep teaching BOOST for longer than a few months (and now I have plans and ideas for NEW themes for at least two more BOOST years 😅)
2. Dancers would enjoy/appreciate/find use in the classes/BOOST concept (the feedback has been overwhelming, even from those who are simply working with recordings, and I have seen some small miracles happen right before my eyes in the ZOOM sessions, too 👀 True transformations!)
3. Anyone would even sign up for BOOST at all 👀 (oh my lordy dudes, we are now 75 BOOSTies strong already 😳😱🦖💜✨ I so love you all!)
4. I could stay inspired enough to keep on going after one year (see above, so much inspiration already 😄💜✨)

It’s limitless 💜

I am still learning with you all as we go, getting inspired by what we see/feel/explore, and I am looking forward to take it even FURTHER into unexplored BOOST dance topics in the future editions 👀

This will take me some time, and focus, to prepare - and that is one reason I will CLOSE enrollments for Season 3 this Sunday 💜

For new BOOSTies to feel warmly welcome and free to ask questions, I give full energy to all who sign up - and for my BOOSTies already signed up, I do my very best to answer questions and give guidance where needed.. for this I need to make time as well, so.. I am ‘shoring things up’ (again!) in order to preserve the BOOST quality while I prep for next year’s edition 💜

Secondly, the exercises we have been doing the past 3 weeks (Posture! Arms!) are proving to be SO valuable for the rest of this Season (Props!) that I want new BOOSTies to be able to catch up at ease 💜
